#DUPE FOR MAC SOFT OCHRE PAINT POT MAC#
I did wear tests using the ELF on one eye and the MAC on the other. So how does shadow application compare between the two? Very similar. I find a brush application to be a little patchy/uneven with the ELF. The MAC applies well with either your finger or a brush. I feel this is the best application method for the ELF one, as the warmth of your finger helps warm the product up to spread more evenly across the eyes. Both apply nicely to the eyes with a finger. I found that a little surprising as the ELF is infused with squalane for hydration. Now concerning the formula of each… the ELF is a little thicker and drier compared to the MAC, which feels more emollient and not as thick. In photos this doesn’t seem to translate well, but in real life, Rose does look darker than Painterly. But when applied to the eyes, they look basically identical. But when swatched side by side, however Rose loos a little darker. So looking at both Rose and Painterly side by side, Rose looks similar in shade. Sand doesn’t look like any of the current Paint Pot shades. For those curious, the shade Cream looks similar to Soft Ochre, and Clay looks similar to Groundwork. I got the shade Rose, which looks similar in color to Painterly in the MAC Paint Pot.

Here’s some more detailed info (taken from ELF’s site): I hope they eventually carry it at other stores that sell ELF to make it easier to get ahold of.
It’s currently exclusive to Ulta and the ELF website. You get 0.19 oz of product (compared to 0.17 oz for the Paint Pot). So these eye primers retail for just $5 US each (compared to $23 US for the Paint Pots) and come in 6 shades. A friend of mine was raving about it on Facebook, and I finally decided to pull the trigger to see how it compares to the MAC Paint Pots as the colors of some shades looked VERY similar. Then ELF came out with these Putty Eye Primers and I was curious.

I love how they cancel out any redness/veins on my lids and make my shadows pop and live up to their full potential. Keep on reading to find out what I think!Īs some of you probably know, I LOVE the MAC Paint Pots and have used Soft Ochre and Painterly as my eye base almost religiously for a long time. I’d seen some talk about this being a dupe for the MAC Paint Pots, and I wanted to try it for myself to see.
I got a review for you all today on the ELF Putty Eye Primer. Hey look at me trying to be better about uploading more often!
